Sisterhood
I once heard a minister say that if you can count the five people closest to you and know they are wonderful positive people, then you are on the right path in your life. I can honestly say that I am lucky enough to be on the right path in my life.I have had many friendships come and go but there are a few solid relationships I know will stand the test of time. I am lucky to have a group of girlfriends that are not only friends but my sisters too!
To me this bond of sisterhood has a lot to do with communication and maturity. Our friendships have lasted because we have learned to use relational maintenance without giving it a second thought. We laugh, we cry, and yes of course we still argue at times too. When we need advice we're a phone call away. We know we can count on each other to be open and honest with one another, even when at times it is not what we want to hear. We also have the connection of sharing similar interests and experiences.
Sisters are the friends that are there for you to pick up the pieces of a broken heart, to cry with you when we lose a loved one and make you laugh more than anyone else can.
So this post goes out to all of my beautiful, talented and inspiring sisters out there! You make my life brighter just by being exactly who you are!
Cheers to you hermanas :)

Mastering the Web at the Women's College
Advancement. Opportunity. Empowerment. Words that resonate in the hallways of The Women’s College at the University of Denver (TWC). At this college women have an opportunity to exceed their education goals. With convenient hours and a tight knit community TWC offers various Degree and certificate programs for students. Many adult women feel they don’t have the time to commit to school. Life has thrown obstacles in the way of their education path. Raising a family, while working a full time job, can make going back to school seem impossible. The Women’s College helps to alleviate some of these hurdles with convenient schedules, smaller class sizes, and various degree plans.
Enrolling in the Women’s College was one of the best decisions I have made. TWC instructors have the experience and background that gives the University of Denver its prestigious reputation. The camaraderie with other students has been one of the most enjoyable experiences of my education. Any time I have a question on homework the instructor or other students are available to answer my questions. Students at TWC also have the option of adding a certificate to any degree plan simply by taking the required coursework in place of electives
With the difficult economy and competitive job market my combined Degree and Certificate at the Women’s College will improve my career opportunities. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Communications. After researching several job opportunities in Communications, I found that most employers were looking for Communications Specialists with Web Design and IT skills. I spoke with my advisor and added a Certificate in Web Design to my academic plan.
Adding a Certificate in Web Design will give me an edge in this highly competitive job market. I do not have a background in Web Design but in the short time I have taken these classes I am already designing my first website. A Web Designer is responsible for creating the look and feel of World Wide Web pages for a client's Web site. While some professional designers pursue a degree in graphic design, students at the Women’s College have the opportunity to obtain these comprehensive skills by adding a certificate to their degree plan.
To register or learn more about The Women’s College log onto www.womenscollege.du or call 303-871-2000. Winter Quarter begins January 7, 2011.
